# tmux-ide 2.9.2

> tmux-ide 2.9.2 brings the Home and Terminals app to the stable channel: agents across machines, a calmer workspace, smoother resizing, a simple installer.

Version `2.9.2`, released on October 2, 2026, brings the Home and Terminals
experience to the stable channel. It is superseded by [2.9.3](/docs/release-2-9-3).
tmux continues to own your processes, panes, windows, and persistence. Closing
tmux-ide leaves those sessions running.

## Your agents, across machines

Home and the sidebar bring agents together across local and SSH-connected machines.
Shared names, team groups, and activity indicators carry through to pane headers.
Claude split-pane teammate names are discovered through a read-only adapter;
Claude retains responsibility for spawning, messaging, and task coordination.
Explicit names and mixed-harness team assignments take precedence over defaults.

## A calmer terminal workspace

A shared design system brings consistent dialogs, command search, shortcuts,
buttons, and surface colors. Light and dark themes apply automatic contrast
correction by default, with an off switch. Scrollback and live views have distinct
controls. Pane interactions show brief attributed activity instead of noisy
indicators for your own keystrokes.

## Smoother pane resizing

Continuous drags preserve the divider guide while confirmed layouts arrive.
Geometry-only updates no longer invalidate unrelated session inventory. Terminal
contents follow confirmed tmux geometry; this is not speculative terminal resizing.
Performance varies with the host, terminal emulator, network, and tmux workload.

## One-command installation

```bash
curl -fsSL https://tmux-ide.com/install.sh | sh
```

The user-owned installer supplies Node.js, bundled tmux, and the exact-version app
runtime for macOS and glibc Linux, and preserves existing tmux servers. See
[Getting started](/docs/getting-started#requirements) for supported platforms,
manual npm installation, updates, and removal.

## Scope and known limits

tmux 3.7 or newer is required, including for existing servers. The installer
bundles 3.7c. Older tmux versions are outside the supported release baseline.

This release focuses on Home and Terminals. Experimental web and desktop surfaces
are not part of the stable product commitment. Native observation of raw tmux
interactions remains opt-in; unknown callers are not guessed into named agents.
In-process Claude teammates do not become separate panes. Cross-machine team
groups and a graphical team-management dialog are not included.

Apple Silicon and Linux ARM received the most performance validation. Intel Mac
performance qualification remains incomplete. Linux Intel metadata-tail measurements
were about 55–58 ms against an original 50 ms target. A Spark resource test passed
its terminal assertions but retained a process-exit observation failure, with
container cleanup confirmed. These are qualification limits, not claims about
ordinary typing latency or universal parity with native tmux.

Supported platforms and requirements now live in
