# tmux-ide 2.9.18

> Pane dividers on Homebrew's tmux and other stock tmux, and a tmux-ide doctor line that says which features your tmux supports.

`2.9.18` is a CLI/daemon release. It works with native macOS alpha `0.1.14`,
which needs no update.

## Pane dividers on stock tmux

tmux-ide installs its own tmux, with a few extra commands. A tmux server started by
another tmux, such as Homebrew's 3.7c or 3.8, lacks them, and the Mac app showed
no pane dividers on it and gave no reason.

The daemon now draws dividers on such a server from the layout it already reads,
and moves them with tmux's own `resize-pane`:

* Each drag is one tmux command. It checks that the window's layout is still the
  one the daemon read, and only then resizes. If anything changed the window in
  between, tmux refuses the drag and nothing moves.
* Moves land where you drop them, up to the panes' minimum size, with pane
  titles on top, at the bottom or off.
* A drag resizes only the panes on either side of the divider.

Some windows still show no dividers on stock tmux, and the app doesn't yet say
why:

* a zoomed window, the same as on tmux-ide's own tmux
* a window with a floating pane open, on tmux 3.8
* a rare nested layout, where only the affected divider is missing
* a divider whose panes are already at their minimum size

After a floating pane closes, the dividers can take up to a minute to come back.

A tmux server started by tmux-ide keeps the same path as before.

## tmux-ide doctor names your tmux

`tmux-ide doctor` now reports one of:

* `bundled tmux: full features`
* `stock tmux: reduced features`
* `this tmux has only some tmux-ide commands: no pane dividers`

With a server running, it asks that server. Without one, it starts a private
server to test the tmux binary, then normally removes it.

## Smaller fixes

* When one command in a list sent to tmux fails, tmux skips the rest of that
  list. The daemon now expects that, so later replies are not matched to the
  wrong request.

Update the CLI/daemon with `tmux-ide update`. Existing tmux sessions are
preserved. Full list of changes:
